Holmes Beach Local Guide
Holmes Beach has a rather short history compared to other places in Florida because it’s still relatively new in the grand scheme of things, but what it lacks in history, it makes up for its charm. With a population of about 5,000 residents, you can be guaranteed to find privacy and seclusion here. Holmes Beach residents are a blend of permanent and seasonal, yet Holmes Beach is the largest of three island communities on Anna Maria Island. Bordered on the north by the City of Anna Maria and to the south by the city of Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach vaunts nearly three miles of gorgeous white, sandy beaches and an endless amount of emerald green water.
The city of Holmes Beach has everything you would ever need for your vacation stay. Whether you prefer outdoor activities, quiet time, or fun in the sun with friends; we have what you need for that picturesque vacation you’ve been wanting. Our small, quaint town offers numerous restaurants, bars and retail outlets – with some historical parks and wildlife thrown in! Who has time to be bored here with so many things to do?
On any given day, you can find dolphins swimming alongside you as you jet along the bay. Looking to just sit on the beach and soak up some rays while you just relax, that’s okay to. When you are not too busy relaxing, you will also find fitness, fishing and water sports facilities complete with lifeguards, excellent washroom and child facilities. You may find a sea turtles nest alongside the coast during your stay, but usually, it will be marked by yellow tape. Be careful not to disturb them because they are endangered. If you do not see any tape around a nest, be sure to report its location as soon as you can. By the time you leave Holmes Beach, you will be a Florida Wildlife expert!
Holmes Beach offers you the chance to let go of the usual hustle and bustle you left behind. You can plan every detail of your fantasy vacation or just go with the flow. In Holmes Beach, you’ve got the time and freedom to do with as you please because time seems to slow down here. Peacefulness, tranquility, with a little bit of adventure is what gives this place the reputation it has earned.
