Coquina Gulfside Park- come spend the day!
Located at the southern end of Anna Maria Island, Coquina Gulfside Park boasts 22 acres of white sand beaches, beautiful blue waters, and is host to many amenities. An abundance of Australian pines provides plenty of shade for those who prefer less sun. Free parking, restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables, grills, lifeguards, and playground make for a perfect day. A concession stand and a gift shop are located by the main entrance. Looking for a place to host your family reunion? Coquina offers pavilions that seat up to 96 people. Electricity and running water are also available.
Coquina beach gets its name from small clams, called coquinas. If you look along the shoreline, you will see these tiny mollusks burrowing down in the wet sand. They range in color from pastels to vibrant hues and rarely grow larger than 1” or 2.5cm in length.
Bring your camera! This waterfront beach has views overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, Sarasota Bay, and Jewfish Key. Also a popular spot for dolphin watching, keep your eyes on the surf- you just might see one!
The Anna Maria Island Trolley service runs daily from 6 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. every 20 minutes from Anna Maria City Pier to Coquina Beach. Stops are every two to four blocks along the route. Trolley stops have a green sign with a trolley on it and most have covered seating while you wait. The trolley cars offer both air conditioned and open-air seating. And there is no cost to ride the trolley- it’s free!
