This is one destination that you definitely don’t want to miss; even if you don’t consider yourself an art lover, you’ll be glad you stopped in!

History

This attraction is the former property of circus mogul John Ringling and his wife Mable. They originally purchased the property in the mid-1910s, and it became a passion project for Mable. She oversaw virtually every aspect of the building and helped to fill it with stunning pieces of art, particularly the pieces that John brought home from overseas. Mable passed away in 1929, and in 1931, John opened the museum to the public. He passed away five years later and left the property to the people of Florida.

Museum of Art

The Museum of Art is currently home to a number of rotating collections as well as permanent exhibits. The establishment has featured artists from around the world in virtually every art style one could imagine. Guests are welcome to browse the Searing Galleries, Monda Gallery, Chao Gallery, and more to view all of the artwork.
